Valdivia is the capital of the Region de Los Rios, known as the City of Rivers, still preserved Spanish fortifications at the time of the conquest, as the towers and strong in Mancera and Niebla.

Car The city is connected to the rest of the country by the highway 5, with access from the north through San Jose de la Mariquina and Máfil, Paillaco by the south where the road forks to the northeast. The trip is 48 km to Valdivia.
