BEST TIME TO VISIT
As Fortaleza is located very close to the Equatorial Line, there is little temperature amplitude along the year. Temperatures range between 26 ºC and 28 ºC (79 ºF and 82 ºC).
The dry season goes from July to January and the wet season goes from February to June.
ORIENTATION
Beira Mar area is the most attractive part of the city. Between the more important beaches we have:
Praia da Barra do Ceará: located by the mouth of the Ceará River. Here you can visit the ruins of an old fort.
Praia de Iracema: it’s mostly known for the many restaurants and lively nightlife.
Praia do Meireles: the perfect beach for long walks and water sports. It also has many restaurants and bars.
Praia do Mucuripe: A bay with white sand and calm waters. Here you can also find the lighthouse of Mucuripe.
Praia do Futuro: one of the busiest beaches in Fortaleza, with many restaurants and nightclubs.
HOW TO GET THERE
By air
Pinto Martins International Airport has many domestic and international connections to Fortaleza. There are buses and taxis to take you to the city centre and to the many urban beaches.
By bus
There are connections from most cities of the country to Fortaleza, usually stopping at the main bus station. Expresso Guanabara has an extensive network to/from here.
TRAVELLING AROUND
The best way to move around Fortaleza is by bus or taxi. The city is very well connected by buses and the services are regular and not expensive.
