Buenos Aires is the capital of the Argentina and one of the largest cities in Latin America. Located in the east of Argentina and surrounded by the immense flat land known as the Pampas, Buenos Aires is a cosmopolitan city with ample boulevards, abundant parks, impressive buildings and diverse culture and nightlife. The city boasts an impressive number of art galleries, theatres and museums, fine restaurants and clubs, and of course, tango is everywhere.
REASONS TO GO
Superb architecture, great wines, and
Boutique hotels and trendy galleries and shops
One of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world
BEST TIME TO VISIT
As the city gets quite hot and humid during the summer months (December to February), spring and autumn are probably the best time to visit.
ORIENTATION
The city is designed on a grid system and the main point of orientation is the Avenida 9 de Julio that runs from Plaza Constitucion to Avenida de Libertador. Most tourist attractions are to be found within the Microcentro and therefore quite easy to visit walking.
HOW TO GET THERE
Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini International Airport is 37km (23 miles) away from Buenos Aires. There are regular shuttle buses and private car transfers travelling to the city in around 40 minutes. Taxis are also available and it´s possible the easiest way to get to the centre.
TRAVELLING AROUND
The best way to explore Buenos Aires is to take the bus or Subte (subway) to an area and then walk around it.
Colectivos (local buses) are also useful for travelling within the city limits and many services operate 24 hours a day.
There are also many taxis available around the city. Though it is easy to hail them on the street, it is safer to call one on the phone.
