ORIENTATION

Bali is located close to the main Indonesian island of Java. To the east is the neighbouring island of Lombok, and to the north lies the equator. Bali is surrounded on the north by the Bali Sea and to the south by the Indian Ocean. The island's principal resorts of Kuta, Nusa Dua and Sanur are to be found on the southern coastline. The most popular inland resort with is Ubud, north of Sanur.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Bali has a tropical climate year round with an average daily temperature of 31°C. Between October and April it gets extremmely humid. The dry season is between May and September, and has long hot days and little rain. June is also a great time to visit.

HOW TO GET THERE

By plane

Denpasar Airport (Ngurah Rai) is 13km (8 miles) southwest of Denpasar city centre, is the main airport on Bali. There are buses and taxis to the city centre and for the most important resorts.  Some hotels organize free transfers from the airport.

TRAVELLING AROUND

To get around you can rent a motorcycle or a car. Travelling by taxi is easy and not expensive. Be careful as roads are very crowded and drivers are a bit erratic.
